The Secret Life of a Bikini Competitor
#11 Leticia Lockhart WBFF Bikini Diva: overcoming addiction, competing as a self discovery journey, importance of connection, mental fitness, creating your inventory
My guest this week was the unbelievably inspiring Leticia Lockhart, a WBFF Bikini Diva and online coach based in Sydney.
Leticia is not only an incredible athlete, coach, mentor and much more, but she also identifies as a grateful recovering addict. Her grit and strength to recover and move through such dark times has subsequently led her to develop passion for life and is on a mission to use her experiences to serve and support her clients in the best way possible.
I am in love with Leticia’s mindset (and Leticia in general!) and her awareness of her mental state and I am beyond grateful that she chose to share her story with me.
In this episode we cover:
- How she’s coping with lockdown
- Losing her job but launching her own business in iso
- Her advice if stuck in a place of anxiety right now
- Leticia’s competing journey - how she found bodybuilding
- Why competing is so much more than aesthetics
- Her recovery from drug addiction
- Her work teaching girls to reconnect with their bodies
- Why exercise is so powerful for moving through adversity/trauma
- Her views on the industry right now and the roles of comp prep coaches
- ‘Mental fitness’ vs ‘mental health’
- The importance of creating a personal ‘inventory’
- Competing plans and goals
- Loving off season
